Dora The Explorer Live-Action Movie Just Cast Its Villain

Producer Michael Bay's live-action movie adaptation of Dora The Explorer has just managed to find its big bad.

Though fans might have been expecting Paramount to bring in an actor to voice a CGI version of Swiper the Fox, a report by Collider says the studio is actually finalizing a deal with Mexican actor Eugenio Derbez to play a "rougish explorer named Alejandro Gutierrez."

According to the publication, though information about the role is limited right now, Derbez is going to be Dora The Explorer's main villain. For those who aren't quite familiar with the premise of the film just yet, the live-action adaptation of Dora the Explorer will feature a teenage Dora who heads out to the city to live together with her cousin, Diego.

Isabella Moner, the sixteen-year-old actress known for her role in Transformers: The Last Knight has been officially cast as Dora in the live-action movie and is the only confirmed actor cast in the remake. Derbez will join Monez once he finalizes his deal with the studio.

Though some might be a bit disappointed that Paramount has decided to chuck out the idea of Swiper the Fox, it's pretty understandable that the film would make a few tweaks here and there. It is, after all, an adaptation.

Dora the Explorer is set to premiere on August 2, 2019.
