Over the years, there have been numerous webtoons that have gained success after getting a live-action adaptation release on Netflix. Some of the most popular ones include All of Us Are Dead, Hellbound, Sweet Home, and The Uncanny Counter.
And now, Studio Dragon released a K-drama series inspired by a popular webtoon The Girl Downstairs. The live-action adaptation, on the other hand, will go with a different title, Doona!
Doona! Release Date
The official release date of Doona! on Netflix was October 20, 2023.
Doona! was included in Netflix's slate of upcoming K-content announced at the Tudum event in June.
Fans shared that filming had come to an end in February 2023 with the cast and crew enjoying a wrap party.
Doona! Cast: Who Stars?
The teaser video released at the Tudum event reveals very little about the show's cast. Most importantly, we know that the two lead stars of Doona! will be portrayed by Bae Suzy, who was a Miss A member, and Yang Se Jong.
Bae Suzy is no stranger to Netflix Originals as she also starred in Start-Up and Vagabond. In Doona!, Bae Suzy plays the role of Lee Do Na.
Meanwhile, Se Jong plays the character of Lee Won Joon in the show. He previously starred in My Country: The New Age, Dr. Romantic, and Thirty But Seventeen.
Lee Yoo Bi has also been cast for an unnamed supporting role in the drama. This show marks her debut in a Netflix Original. But previously, she starred in other shows like Somehow 18, A Poem a Day, and Pinocchio.

Doona! Crew: Who are the Creative Minds Behind the Scenes?
Doona! was produced by Studio Dragon, who has been responsible for a number of other successful K-dramas on Netflix. Among the list includes Love Alarm, Sweet Home, My Holo Love, and many more.
The show was written and directed by Lee Jeong Hyo, who is famous for directing other K-dramas like Crash Landing on You, Life on Mars, and Romance is a Bonus Book.
The webtoon, The Girl Downstairs, was written by Min Song Ah.
Doona! Plot: What Will Happen?
The official Doona! synopsis on Netflix reads:
"A college student navigates life and school while dealing with a unique predicament -- he's living with a beautiful former K-pop sensation."
Meanwhile, the webtoon's synopsis reads:
"When Joon moves into his new apartment on his first day of college, he wasn’t expecting beautiful ex-celebrity Duna to be living downstairs. Joon tries to avoid her at first but finds himself growing more and more curious about her mysterious life."
The Netflix K-drama follows Lee Doo Na as she retires from the limelight and opts to live in a share house near a university. She meets Lee Won Joon, a freshman at the university, who also resides on the property.
The two get to know each other and get attracted to one another. The problem is, Won Joon is an ordinary young man without anything extraordinary about him.
Despite all odds, will he be able to win Doo Na's heart?

The first time we learned of Doona! was from the upcoming K-content preview that was revealed at the Tudum event.
