The wait is over folks! HBO Max has released the first Doom Patrol Season 2 trailer and it's pretty much what everyone wanted. It's weird, funny, has some serious moments, and even offers more insight on the backstories of the world's weirdest heroes. Fans worried about any big spoilers won't have to since it's edited in a way that makes it hard to predict, which is what all trailers should strive to do.
Fans are really going to dig the flashback sequences of each Doom Patrol member. We even get to see Brendan Frasier pre-Robotman, which is something many predicted but did not expect to get right away. We also get to meet Dorothy, who is The Chief's kid and is even dressed like her namesake from The Wizard of Oz. It's weird stuff and that's what we all love about Doom Patrol, yo.
When last we saw the Doom Patrol, Mr. Nobody was defeated and DC's strangest group of heroes had been shrunk to mini-size and stranded on a toy race track. Now in season 2, we see "Robotman" Cliff Steele (Brendan Fraser), "Negative Man" Larry Trainor (Matt Bomer), "Elasti-Woman" Rita Farr (April Bowlby), "Crazy Jane" (Diane Guerrero), and "Cyborg" Victor Stone (Joivan Wade) also have to deal with their feelings of betrayal by "The Chief" Niles Caulder (Timothy Dalton), as well as their own individual baggage. They also have a new member: Meet The Chief's kid! The powers Dorothy Spinner (Abigail Shapiro) possesses are a mystery, but could — no biggie — end the world.
Doom Patrol Season 2 continues to look like the most out-there show right now, one that barely has any similarities to the other DC Universe shows we've seen thus far. Sure, shows like Titans and Stargirl have their appeal but it's clear that Doom Patrol has a bit of an edge over them. Let's all hope that this season lives up to our expectations.
