Doom Patrol is the Only DC Universe Series That Will Appear on HBO Max

DC Universe's Doom Patrol has been one of the more well-received shows from the streaming service, showing just how original and weird comic book adaptations can be. This is why many were surprised when it was announced Doom Patrol Season 2 would simultaneously show on DC Universe and HBO Max since it felt like they were gutting the former. It seems like they are aware of the accusations since Kevin Reilly, the HBO Max Content Chief, said this would be the only DC Universe series appearing on Max.

Reilly does state that DC Universe is a valuable commodity for them but they feel that Doom Patrol could thrive better under the HBO Max banner, which is, let's be frank here, true. While Reilly did say that this would be the only DCU show appearing on HBO Max, one has to wonder if the future for this streaming service is a bright one. Then again, if DCU ever kicks the bucket, everything under it would probably be absorbed by HBO Max.

"So we really want to figure out how we walk this line for fans where we have a deep fan engagement, which is why DCU was designed, and a broader fan engagement. That is evolving but there were high-end series that DCU produced that felt like, budgetarily, we could handle from a business model better, and bring along and service that swath of fans. Doom Patrol" was a show we identified that had deep love for it and tucked right into our portfolio."

At the least, we're happy that Doom Patrol Season 2 is getting so much love from Warner Bros since the series was so well-liked. There's no doubt that Doom Patrol is an awesome series and could soar in HBO Max if advertised right. Let's just hope that everything goes well and they do what's possible to make DC Universe more appealing.

Doom Patrol Season 2 will be coming to DC Universe and HBO Max on June 25.
