Golden Kamuy creator Satoru Noda emerged from his break with a new manga series back in July. Now that it has been ongoing for a few months, Viz Media announced that Noda’s Dogsred manga is getting an English simulpub release in Shonen Jump.

Viz Media revealed the manga’s upcoming release via the Shonen Jump official X (formerly Twitter) account.

This manga is technically new, but it’s more accurate to call it a relaunch of Noda’s first manga.

Satoru Noda is a popular manga artist who gained renown thanks to Golden Kamuy, a historical manga series that was set in Hokkaido during the early twentieth century.

This manga has been widely praised and has received prestigious awards. These include the Tezuka Osamu Cultural Prize in 2018. It is also a bestseller for Shueisha as it has over 24 million copies in circulation as of March 2023.

The series ended in 2022 and Noda took a break for over a year before launching his new sports manga Dogsred. This manga began serialization in Weekly Young Jump on July 27, 2023.

Instead of being an entirely new manga, Dogsred is a relaunch or remake of Noda’s Supinamarada! manga that was serialized in Young Jump from 2011 to 2012.

As with Supinamarada!, Dogsred follows a disgraced figure skater named Ro Shirakawa who moves to Hokkaido following the death of a family member. There, he meets the Genma brothers who introduce him to ice hockey.

Given that Golden Kamuy was released in English on Shonen Jump, it should come as no surprise that Noda’s next manga will also get an international simulpub release.

Viz Media Confirms Dogsred Simulpub in Shonen Jump

On the Shonen Jump official X account, it was revealed that Dogsred will be released on the platform in English beginning this week.

Specifically, the manga will begin serialization on the platform tomorrow, November 8, 2023.

Given that it’s billed as a simul-release, fans can expect that the manga’s latest chapter will be released on Shonen Jump at the same time as the Japanese release.

There are no other details shared, but if the simul-release begins tomorrow, the manga’s previous chapters will likely be released on Shonen Jump as well.

Based on other Shonen Jump titles though, readers will need to get a subscription to read all the manga’s chapters if they are released.
