Why Did Romy Flee From Earth in Phoenix?

In the Phoenix: Nostalgia manga, Earth has become overpopulated after space colonists return to the planet with illegal refugees, in addition to the growing population of Earthlings.

What’s more, Japan will be turned into an artificial country for the people to live in. This means that the country Romy and George know about will lose its lush environment.

As this happens, Romy and George encounter each other and become a couple.

They realized that Earth would not be the same way again after it lost its natural environment. Because of this, Romy and George decided to do the unimaginable by going away.

The couple wanted to start a family in a world where their children would have the most freedom while being surrounded by a healthier atmosphere and environment.

As a result, Romy and George availed themselves of the services of a fox-faced real estate agent from 30th Century Fox Space Real Estate, who offered them an uninhabited planet called Eden17.

At first, Romy and George were happy to move to Eden17, but after George realized that they were not the first ones to live on the planet, unfortunate incidents began to dawn on the couple.

Romy and George only had a simple goal in mind when they inhabited Eden17 in the Phoenix: Nostalgia manga.

They wanted to create a thriving society on the planet similar to Earth, except it would have better inhabitants, a better system, and a better living environment.

A part of their plan is to give birth to children in order to continue their lineage. However, George died after an earthquake hit Eden17. As it turns out, Eden17 is a planet where earthquakes happen on a daily basis!

But thanks to the Phoenix, who saw everything that happened between Romy and George, it decided to moderate the earthquakes that affected the planet. Still, there's a problem Romy has to address following George’s death.

She had a son with George named Cain, and Romy decided to go into a cold sleep chamber in order to wait for her son to grow up.

It is a very difficult decision, as Romy has to couple up with her son in order to achieve their goal.

Romy only needs to give birth to a daughter, but Eden's condition is causing her to give birth to multiple boys. Her goal to create a society didn’t happen with her son, Cain, either. But this didn’t stop her from hoping once again.

The Phoenix had to interfere once again in order to bring George and Romy’s goal to fruition. It brought a shapeshifting alien called Moopie to Eden17 in order to couple up with Romy’s son, Seth.

They gave birth to six daughters, and soon after, Eden17 finally became a thriving society, where Romy was regarded as the planet’s queen.

Does Romy Return to Earth in Phoenix?

Yes, Romy successfully returns to Earth after she asks the help of a half-human, half-moopie called Kom and its full-blooded moopie mother to take over her post as Eden17's Queen for the time being.

They hop in a rock-like spaceship they discover in the fire mountain where the Phoenix lives, which almost seems like an actual spaceship.

This spaceship has a mind of its own, but they assume that Kom’s moopie powers have something to do with it. After all, Kom can move any object with his mind alone.

Along the way, Romy and Kom encounter an alien entity called Norva and even a ferry pilot named Makimura.

They became a group despite having different goals in mind. They also began to look for Earth in the vast space, jumping from one planet to another.

Eventually, Makimura gives in to Romy and Kom’s determination and decides to help out.

He initially told Romy and Kom that Earth doesn’t exist, but in reality, it does exist but has been different since the time Romy fled from the planet.

The government now has rules to carry out among the space colonists, and Romy has to obtain a special pass to enter Earth once again.

Thanks to Makimura’s support, Romy and Kom manage to land on Earth after going through its tight security.

Unfortunately, Romy died on Earth due to the side effects of the rejuvenation machine brought upon her by the rat-faced illegal space merchant named Zudaban.
