Grover Underwood had been given a much bigger spotlight in the Percy Jackson and the Olympians series.

Apart from being the main protector of the majority of the demigods at Camp Half-Blood, he also has his own family to worry about, which includes his Uncle Ferdinand.

On the train, Grover told how Pan, the Greek God of the wilderness, disappeared: "A few thousand years ago, the God of the wild, Pan, disappeared. And ever since, without Pan to protect the natural world, humans have been trying hard to chip away at it."

Grover has always strived to protect the wilderness and the animals with all his power, so there's no question that he would yearn to become one of the 'Searchers' who plan on finding and bringing back Pan.

So, who is Pan and why is he important in the series?

In Greek Mythology, he is also regarded as the God of shepherds, fields, groves, forests, rustic melody, and fertility while keeping his figure as a half-man, half-goat.

Meanwhile, in the Percy Jackson books, Pan happens to be important enough to lead the trio on a Quest to look for him. Although, this mostly involves Grover as one of his main goals in the series.

The Percy Jackson and the Olympians series is not only working on giving the titular character his spotlight but even Grover Underwood's own story.

Pan has been frequently mentioned throughout the first season, and at one point, Augustus, whom Grover seemingly used to be close with, even claimed to have found him.

However, it is worth mentioning that before someone takes on the job of finding Pan, they must first be declared an official Searcher.

Lo and behold, by the series finale episode (Episode 8), Grover reveals to Percy and Annabeth that he finally received his Searcher's License.

The license in question happens to be the green flower pinned on his shirt. As of the finale episode of Season 1, Grover is officially authorized to begin the Quest for Pan!

Now, the question is, where should the young satyr even begin his search?

Well, as he said in the episode, "Pan is always on the move and it's all about timing" which makes it harder to point out where to start his journey.

While every part of the natural world had been "checked, noted, and footnoted", Grover has a theory that no one else has checked the seas yet.

Of course, being friends with the Son of Poseidon, Percy promises he will help Grover on his quest. Something to look forward to in the upcoming seasons!

The Quest for Pan is still a recurring storyline that leads up to Percy Jackson and The Battle of the Labyrinth, the fourth novel in the book series. In this case, we can expect to see Grover succeed in Season 4.

Little did Grover know that once he found Pan, the role of becoming the Lord of the Wild would be passed on to him.

As much as Pan could save the wild, he had chosen Grover as his successor for believing in him above anyone else.

Grover accepted the role and indeed took on Pan's place, but that's part of the story we'll have to see once more seasons unfold Rick Riordan's story in the upcoming seasons.
