Percy Jackson has heard many voices in his dreams in the ongoing series, but Percy Jackson and the Olympians Episode 4 didn't sound like a dream at all.
As the episode title states, I Plunge to My Death, a mysterious voice spoke to him underwater before he could supposedly die. So, who is Nereid and who played the character in the series?
Before landing her role in the Percy Jackson series, Jelena Milinkovic previously starred in the acclaimed Netflix show, Maid, where she briefly played the role of Rose. In another series, Milinkovic was Kelly Reid in the mini-series Pulse and played Amanda in A Million Little Things.

Meet Nereid Who Helped Percy Jackson 'Breathe'
Episode 4 nearly killed Percy Jackson after the Mother of Monsters, Echidna, had one of her children inject a poisonous stinger into his system.
Considering that the episode showed how Percy's action of sending Medusa's head to Mount Olympus put him, Annabeth, and Grover in danger, Percy decided to act on his own to save his friends.
In doing so, he faced the Chimera alone with the pen-sword in hand. However, once Echidna blasted a hole through the floor, Percy nearly fell to his death. It was thanks to the waters that Poseidon saved his demigod son underwater.
The thing is, Percy was struggling underwater as his foot got stuck in the process. Despite seemingly finding no way out of it, a distinct voice calls out to him, one whose voice comes from a mystical creature called Nereid.
The Nereid Saved Percy Jackson
The Nereids or Nereides are sea-nymph daughters of Nereus, also known as the 'old man of the sea.'
As opposed to typical stories about sirens, the Nereids are the goddesses of the rich bounty of the seas and protect the sailors and fishermen, which explains why a similar creature would come to Percy Jackson's rescue.
While the episode showed an early memory of Percy's mother teaching him how to swim and breathe underwater, the episode solidified and confirmed that Percy can indeed breathe normally underwater.
