Does Dante die in the General Hospital series? What happened to the PCPD officer in the recent episode of the long-running soap? The trailer may have shown him spill blood, but does this mean he's leaving the show? Here's what happened.

What Happened to Dante in General Hospital?
Considering that the official General Hospital teaser showed Dante Falconeri (played by Dominic Zamprogna) lying across the floor seemingly in bad shape, many fans wonder if he will die on the soap opera.
Well, in the latest episode, while Dante was confronting the real identity behind the culprits they've been after (one of which happens to be Jason), Dante gets shot twice in the chest.
He falls to the floor as Jason (the undiscovered culprit targetting Sonny in the warehouse) shoots the culprit who injured Dante before Jason runs back to check up on him.
The latest episode ends quite abruptly, leaving fans to wonder if Dante would even remember that he unveiled the gunman's identity to be Jason, or better yet if Dante would even survive the two shots he received right in his chest.
That said, this also sparks another question regarding the actor's status on the show. Does this mean Dominic Zamprogna is leaving the show?

This wouldn't be the first time we had seen Zamprogna leave General Hospital.
The Battlestar Galactica actor made his debut in the soap opera back in June 2009, introduced as the son of Sonny Corinthos and Olivia Falconeri.
Dante has always had a complex story to come back to on the show, considering that he has had to work undercover as part of his job on the police force and for his relationship with Lulu Spencer.
That is until Zamprogna left General Hospital sometime in 2018, in an attempt to try out different films and series to expand his career.
"I went from going up that stage and having a great time to stressing out and just not feeling like I was doing good work," Zamprogna shared on a That's Awesome with Steve and Bradford podcast.
He added: "That's the other reason why I wanted to step back. I felt like I needed to clear my head."
Although the actor returned to the series as a regular in 2020, things are once again looking pretty bleak for his future as Dante's fate remains uncertain for now. Stay tuned for more updates on this story.
