Disney's Lilo and Stitch Live-Action Remake to Bring Back the Original Voice Actors

As production is finally underway on the Lilo and Stitch live-action remake, we've been hearing a lot of casting updates for the past couple of weeks including some of the key roles. However, the role of Stitch has still not been officially cast and now we finally have the news on who will be behind the titular alien's voice.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Chris Sanders, who originally voiced Stitch and is the co-director of the original film, is currently in final talks to reprise the voice role in the live-action remake. His casting has been rumored for months before this report came.

In addition, Tia Carrere, who originally voiced Nani, has been cast to play the new character Mrs. Kekoa while Amy Hill, who voiced Mrs. Hasagawa in the original, is also joining the cast to play the new character Tūtū.

The report also revealed that the role of David has been recast with Kaipot Dudoit. Kahiau Machado, who was originally set to play the role, was let go from the project after fans uncovered that he used racial slurs on the title of his Spotify playlist.

They are joining the ensemble that already includes Maia Kealoha (as Lilo), Zach Galifianakis (as Jumba), Billy Magnussen (as Pleakley), Sydney Agudong (as Nani), and Courtney B. Vance (as Cobra Bubbles).

Marcel the Shell with Shoes On director Dean Fleischer-Camp is helming the film which will be a live-action/CGI hybrid. Production already started last week in Hawaii.

The original film revolves around a Hawaiian girl named Lilo, who formed a friendship with an extraterrestrial creature named Stitch and eventually became her pet "dog" as well as part of their "ohana." It became a huge hit when it was released and eventually turned into a franchise with an animated series spinoff.

It is great to see that Sanders is going to be involved in the film as the voice of Stitch since it has become iconic ever since the original's release and this is an assurance that they are retaining that part of the character in this remake.
