Disney has been working on a live-action remake of their first-ever animated classic Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs for some time now. A few months ago, we learned that Shazam! Fury of the Gods star Rachel Zegler is going to play the titular princess. Now, we know who is going to play the Evil Queen.
Deadline has reported that Wonder Woman star Gal Gadot is in final negotiations to play the Evil Queen in the film. According to them, Disney exes always had their eye on the actress, who was intrigued to play the role as it would be an opportunity for her to be in the same league as Angelina Jolie and Cate Blanchett when it comes to playing an iconic Disney villain. They were able to work out the schedule and the deal was closed this week.
The Amazing Spider-Man director Marc Webb will direct the film. Marc Platt serves as one of the producers. La La Land and The Greatest Showman songwriters Benj Pasek and Justin Paul are writing new songs and the report indicated that the higher-ups at Disney are excited with what they are coming up. Production is set to begin next year.
Gadot might be an unusual choice for the role since she could be perceived as too young to play the character. But the casting actually tells that they are going to do a different take on the character. We don't know yet what their vision is for this live-action remake, but there is a specific reason why they had their eye on the actress. It is exciting to find out what she'll bring to the table as one of the most iconic Disney villains.

The Wonder Woman star has been busy lately. She has the movie Red Notice with Dwayne Johnson and Ryan Reynolds coming next week on Netflix, she is set to star in a Cleopatra film that will be directed by Patty Jenkins, and, of course, there is the third Wonder Woman film that is currently in development.
