Disney Exec Who’s Seen Star Wars: Episode IX Calls The Film “Terrific” And “A Big Deal”

Lucasfilm might have been careful not to let any Star Wars: Episode IX spoilers to the fanbase, but it looks like the studio's already started showing the footage to Disney executives and according to Disney Film Head Alan Horn, everything that he's seen so far has been quite promising.

Horn just recently spoke in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter to talk about things like the Fox acquisition, the Mickey Mouse House's ongoing Star Wars projects, and Pixar after John Lasseter's decision to leave. During the discussion with the entertainment news outlet, Horn opened up about Episode IX, saying that he had visited the set of the film and had seen a couple of scenes being shot live.

"I just got back from the United Kingdom, which is not so united," Horn said, "I went to the set, and was with [director] J.J. [Abrams], [Lucasfilm president] Kathy [Kennedy], and the cast. I watched a couple of scenes being shot and then we all had dinner. I have not seen a cut of it yet, but I watch dailies every weekend and send J.J. and Kathy a note every weekend. It's a big deal, and it's going to be terrific."

Though it's obvious that Disney wants this film to succeed in every way, this new report from Horn saying that Episode IX is going to be "a big deal" and a "terrific" movie only adds to fans excitement over the third and final sequel trilogy installment.

Horn was also asked about Lucasfilm's plans after Episode IX, but the Disney exec was tight-lipped.

"It's all in discussion," the Disney Film President replied.

Guess we're going to have to sit tight and wait for Episode IX to premiere before we get any official announcement on what's to come in the Star Wars franchise.

Star Wars: Episode IX premieres December 20, 2019.
