DEBUNKED: No Actors Have Met for The Batman Yet, Not Even Armie Hammer

Rumors had dropped yesterday that Armie Hammer (The Lone Ranger) was in final talks to star in Matt Reeves' Batman movie, but it looks like that news was false.

As confirmed by The Hollywood Reporter's Borys Kit:

I'm not in the business of debunking bunk but considering everyone got in a tizzy over this...there is no truth to the below. Being told there haven't even been any actor meetings for THE BATMAN. (But that doesn't mean Reeves and WB don't have ideas of who they would like).

This was also backed up by Variety's Justin Kroll who also says that the rumor is false, but at the same time, he says that this week has potential to be "very interesting on a number fronts," whatever that means.

Going back to Hammer playing the role of Batman, a lot of people have been hoping that he gets cast because he was pretty much up for the role in George Miller's Justice League movie. He never got the chance to play the part, but I think he would be able to pull off a younger Ben Affleck. Plus, we know he already has fantastic chemistry with Henry Cavill based on what we've seen from The Man from UNCLE.

Then again, director Matt Reeves is said to have someone very specific in mind to play a younger Bruce Wayne. If anything, I just hope they pay respect to Affleck's performance. Maybe he has a chance of coming back should a Justice League film take place again in the future?

Catch The Batman when it comes out on June 25, 2021.
