DC Comics stunned the entire comic book community this week when it was announced that Superman, Jon Kent's version, at least will be undergoing some serious change in creative direction. The son of Clark Kent and Lois Lane, Earth's new Man of Steel has come out as bisexual, a move that will be made official in the upcoming issue of Superman: Son of Kal-El which hits stores on November 9th.

Unsurprisingly, the fandom had mixed reactions about it but for the most part, the revelation about Superman's sexuality earned criticism from a lot of fans. Turns out, even former Superman actor Dean Cain isn't a fan of the change. Cain recently aired his two cents regarding the change in the character's creative direction but instead of giving it praise, the Ripley's Believe It or Not host berated the comic book giant's decision to turn the Man of Steel bisexual, even calling the move "bandwagoning".

Speaking on Fox & Friends (via Fox News), Cain said that Supes' new direction is far from being a bold new direction. He explains: "I don't think it's bold or brave or some crazy new direction. If they had done this 20 years ago, perhaps that would be bold or brave. But brave would be having him fight for the rights of gay people in Iran where they'll throw you off a building for the offense of being gay."

I do get why the "purist" fans aren't so thrilled about it but it's Jon Kent we're talking about here, not his father. I mean, besides DC, other comic book companies like Marvel have been championing diversity throughout the years so this shouldn't come as a huge shock. Now, whether or not the company's intentions are pure and genuine, I'll leave that one up to you.
