When it was confirmed that Jennifer Garner is returning as Elektra in the highly-anticipated MCU film Deadpool 3, fans immediately speculated that Ben Affleck will also be returning as Daredevil for a cameo appearance.
After all, reports claimed that Affleck was also spotted on the set and there were also rumors beforehand that he is set to return as The Man Without Fear alongside other actors from the Fox Marvel movies for a No Way Home-type of appearances.
So far, neither Marvel Studios nor Affleck's team have confirmed his appearance in the film, but fans are nevertheless excited about the idea of him returning to play the role one more time alongside Garner's Elektra.
However, it looks like fans may now have to put their hopes down as a new report has suggested that his cameo won't happen after all.
New Report Debunks Ben Affleck's Cameo in Deadpool 3
A new scoop from notable insider Daniel Richtman (via @DeadpoolUpdate) has claimed that Affleck won't be reprising the role of Matt Murdock/Daredevil in Deadpool 3 after all.
Another insider KC Walsh added that while the actor was on the set of Deadpool 3 back when it was filming prior to the strike, he was only present to visit his ex-wife Garner and their children and he declined the offer to reprise his former Marvel role.
In retrospect, it does make sense now that Affleck may have refused to play Daredevil again in Deadpool 3 considering that he has also been trying to move on from superhero projects after years of playing Batman in the DCEU.
There's also the obvious fact that Garner is his ex-wife and it would be awkward for both sides if they work together again, let alone seeing them in the same frame in the film which likely would have caused a significant amount of media coverage if it happens.
While this is unfortunate news for fans if it is true that we won't be expecting to see Affleck in the film, there's still a lot of treat in store as rumors have indicated that it will feature more cameo appearances from past Fox Marvel actors beyond what's been confirmed so far.
