Warner Bros. and DC Films' failure to capitalize on Ben Affleck's version of Batman is easily one of the biggest missed opportunities in the history of comic book films.

After his take on The Dark Knight showed tremendous promise, internal turmoil in the studio coupled with questionable creative decisions ruined the character and resulted in Affleck bailing out from the DC Extended Universe.

Affleck did get a proper send-off as Batman in The Flash and while it looks like his days protecting Gotham City are over, a new rumor suggests that Ben could be making his way back to the Marvel Universe, two decades after playing a beloved hero.

According to insider KC Walsh (via Cinemablend), Ben Affleck could make his shocking Marvel comeback in the upcoming Deadpool 3.

Walsh reports that Affleck was seen on the set of the Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman team-up film and while it remains unclear what type of involvement the former Batman actor will have, speculation is already running high that the 50-year-old star will reprise his role as Matt Murdock aka Daredevil.

As it stands, nothing official has been set in stone but from a creative standpoint, Affleck's potential return as the Man Without Fear would make a ton of sense, especially if you'd take into consideration how Deadpool 3 is said to feature several cameos from actors who previously starred in Fox's Marvel films from the 2000s.

It's worth noting that this isn't the first time Affleck fueled speculation about potentially returning to the Marvel realm. Previously, it was reported by several insiders that he was poised to make his Daredevil comeback in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness but obviously, that didn't happen.

Deadpool 3's release date has been moved up from Nov. 8, 2024, to May 3, 2024.
