Deadpool 2 Star On The Franchise’s Future In The Face Of The Disney/Fox Deal

Though Disney's acquisition of 20th Century Fox and its assets still remains in jeopardy as Comcast presents the studio with an all-cash offer, fans continue to anticipate the moment when the X-Men, the Fantastic Four, and Deadpool finally make their way into the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Speaking with the press at a conference in London (via Screen Geek), Deadpool star Stefan Kapicic decided to give his thoughts about the future of the Merc with a Mouth's franchise. Knowing that the deal between Disney and 20th Century Fox would most likely push through, Kapicic continues to hope that the Deadpool franchise would retain its unique voice once it's brought into the MCU.

"We'll see." Kapicic told journalists during the press conference "You know those are the are the questions we cannot answer because we don't know what is going to happen. But you know, Deadpool is such a successful franchise, so whoever takes over, I don't think they're going to change anything – and I don't it that to be changed because you know Deadpool is Deadpool. It needs to stay R-Rated. You don't want to destroy something that created so much money and first of all, you need to satisfy fans. So if they make that mistake, they're going to (Colossus voice) need to fight dirty."

Of course, one of fans' main concerns about Fox merging with Disney is the possibility that the Mickey Mouse House might have the Merc with a Mouth's films toned down to fit with its family-friendly atmosphere. However, knowing the success of the Deadpool franchise, it seems highly unlikely that Disney would want to ruin things by limiting the raunchy, brassy, R-rated film series.

Deadpool 2 is currently screening in cinemas.
