DCEU News: Warner Brothers Reportedly Giving Up On Films Starring Ben Affleck And Henry Cavill

DC fans' hopes that Ben Affleck would return to reprise his role as the DC Extended Universe's Dark Knight might have spiked after news that the Batman star made a visit to Warner Brothers offices earlier this month, however, a new report says the studio is actively looking for Affleck's replacement.

A new report by Variety says that Warner Brothers is currently "reevaluating its approach" to working on its burgeoning superhero franchise, and apparently, the studio no longer believes that it has to move forward with Batman and Superman movies starring Affleck and Man of Steel's Henry Cavill.

This report continues the cycle of rumors regarding Affleck's stay in the DCEU. There's been a whole lot of uncertainty regarding the actor's tenure in the franchise. Ever since Affleck stepped down as the director of The Batman, rumors have been cycling between the actor leaving the DCEU and the actor remaining to play the Dark Knight for the DCEU.

Last week's report on Affleck has a source claiming that the star feels that he just "isn't finished with what he wants to do with the character," and photos showed that the Batman v Superman star had visited the offices of Warner Brothers, bringing back with him a roll of papers with what many assumed to be a script for Matt Reeves' The Batman.

This new tidbit from Variety also continues the cycle of rumors for Henry Cavill. Last month, DC fans were startled to learn that rumors were circulating on the internet, saying that the Justice League star would no longer be appearing in the DCEU.

Of course, as with any report online, fans ought to take this new information with a grain of salt. Warner Brothers hasn't released anything official just yet, so it's all hearsay for now.
