DC Launches New Horror Imprint With a Prelude to The Conjuring Series


DC announced that it will have a new horror imprint, referred to as DC Horror. It will serve as a prelude to Warner Brothers and New Line Cinema's The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It. The comics will be called, The Conjuring: The Lover.

The Conjuring: The Lover will be a five-issue limited series. It will launch in June. The series will be written by The Conjuring 2 and The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It scriptwriter David Leslie Johnson-McGoldrick and Rex Ogle. The art will be drawn by Garry Brown.

Brown will illustrate the 1:25 variant cover. Meanwhile, Bill Sienkiewicz will illustrate the main cover and Ryan Brown will illustrate the non-ratio variant.

Based on the series synopsis, The Conjuring: The Lover will expand the story behind a college freshman named Jessica, she will be returning to campus after winter break. In her return, she will bring the anxieties of the poor grades she had in the last semester, facing a boy she wishes she'd never slept with, as well as the feeling of being watched.

Jessica soon learns that she has become the target of something evil who will not rest until it still has her in its unholy grip. Each of the issues will feature the backup story that will explore the mysteries of the artifact room of Ed and Lorraine Warren from The ConjuringUniverse Issue #1's backup.

DC has been home to great horror comics and characters. According to DC Editor-in-Chief, Marie Javins said, DC Horror continues the tradition of the new frightening tales of both well-known and new storytellers that will keep the fans entertained and spooked.
