DC Fans Want Christopher Nolan to Direct Unrelated Batman Movie

Given his involvement with Warner Bros. for almost two decades, Christopher Nolan has worked on several DC projects. However, his Dark Knight trilogy is the most popular and regarded as one of the best trilogies ever.

With James Gunn and Peter Safran as co-CEOs of DC Studios to form a brand new DC Universe, rumors are swirling that the duo is set to bring Nolan back to their DCU revival plan.

One of the projects in Chapter 1 of the DC Slate is The Brave and the Bold, which is about Batman and his son. The Russo brothers recently expressed interest in directing any related Batman film, which leaves room for competition if Nolan ever decides he wants to take part in it.

However, in a new heated Reddit discussion, DC fans answered a query: "If you could have Christopher Nolan direct one DCU movie that ISN’T Batman related, what would it be?" Answers poured in, and you might agree with some of them.

Top answers include Constantine, The Question, Green Arrow, and Doctor Fate. Despite the aspiring answers that some fans dropped, others have also chipped in to say that they wouldn’t want the filmmaker to direct any more DC.

“His movies are more concept-driven than character-driven (I mean, the main character of his last film didn't even have a name lol) and I just don't see that working with a DC character. His Batman movies are great, but I don't know that they're excellent Batman movies.” wrote Redditor @joegolem18.

Nolan’s Batman Begins came out in 2005, and he hasn't helmed another superhero feature since The Dark Knight Rises in 2012. Aside from fans, Christian Bale, who portrayed the Dark Knight in Nolan's trilogy, was also vocal that he would be willing to return if it meant working with the same director again.

“I had a pact with Chris Nolan. We said, 'Hey, look. Let's make three films if we're lucky enough to get to do that. And then let's walk away. Let's not linger too long. In my mind, it would be something if Chris Nolan ever said to himself, 'You know what, I've got another story to tell.'” said Bale.

Despite the wishes of many, Nolan has yet to come back in superhero outings, and it might be impossible for now because, after his Tenet in 2020, he broke off his involvement with Warner Bros.
