James Gunn’s Superman: Legacy is one of the most anticipated projects in the new DC Universe. The promises surrounding the upcoming film are enough to keep the fans excited as they wait for its release two years from now.
The filmmaker announced yesterday that the upcoming film has entered early pre-production, with costumes, production design, and more now up and running. He also confirmed via a fan’s query that no one has been cast yet and the casting process is still underway.
Superman: Legacy is expected to introduce a new take on the superhero while focusing on his early years as Clark Kent. To accompany the Man of Steel in his adventures, Gunn confirmed that the upcoming film will also see the return of Jimmy Olsen.
Jimmy Olsen is Superman's best friend and a photojournalist. He first appeared in the early days of Superman in 1940 and has been part of many live-action adaptations, including the Christopher Reeve Superman movies, the 2006 sequel Superman Returns, The CW's Smallville, and The Arrowverse.

Fans have been delighted over the first character to be confirmed in Superman: Legacy because, over the years, Jimmy has become less and less represented in pop culture. His relationship with the audience is just as important as his friendship with Superman.
According to a commentary, Jimmy Olsen is a character meant to represent the everyman. Superman and Lois’ romance has inspired many others in comics to believe that the idea of a superhero is more inclined toward their relationship than their connection with humanity.
