DC Comics Announces Mature Harley Quinn and Joker Series for Black Label

Harley Quinn and The Joker have always been a prime example of #notrelationshipgoals. Some fans might enjoy how dark and sadistic they are but the truth of the matter is, it's a sick abusive relationship filled with violence, disrespect, and a lot of enabling. Now that most of us are aware of this fact, it will be interesting to see how Joker/Harley: Criminal Insanity tackles the subject.

Interestingly enough, Criminal Insanity is less of a twisted romance and more of a twisted murder mystery as the Black Label series focuses on Harley's relentless pursuit of The Joker since she is the only one who can think like him and maybe even locate the criminal. However, the journey to find Gotham's worst criminal will force Harley to face her own demons and it's something she might not be able to recover from.

DC's synopsis for the series is as follows:

In Gotham City, where heinous acts of violence are a daily occurrence, the GCPD relies on Harley Quinn, a young forensic psychiatrist and profiler, to consult on their toughest cases. But Harley is haunted by one case in particular—when she found herself at the center of a horrifying crime scene the night she discovered the body of her roommate, left with the signature of a notorious serial killer—the Joker.
When a series of gruesome displays of murder appear throughout the city, the past and present collide as Harley's obsession with finding the depraved psychopath responsible leads her down a dangerous path. She must decide how far she is willing to go, and what lines she is willing to cross to solve these cases once and for all.

The series will be written by Beautiful Creatures author Kami Garcia and drawn by acclaimed artists Mike Mayhew and Mico Suayan. Since this is a Black Label series, they won't be brought down by DC's continuity since this will be a self-contained tale, like Batman: White Knight and the upcoming Superman: Year One.

Joker/Harley: Criminal Sanity #1 comes out this October and will have a monthly schedule.
