Birds of Prey Star Claims That The Movie Will Feel Like a '90s Product

Birds of Prey (and the Fabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn) is coming out next year and fans are curious to see how the all-girl DC film is going to do. The company seems to be doing well, thanks to the success of Aquaman and Shazam, so hopes are high for this one. It seems like fans aren't sure how to describe the film since there's no feature-length trailer yet.

However, Birds of Prey and Scott Pilgrim vs. The World star Mary Elizabeth Winstead gave an interesting description of the movie. During an interview with The New York Times, Winstead said that the film would be like a ‘90s movie in the best way possible. Maybe it's because the group started gaining relevancy during the ‘90s but it's not a description many would have gone with.

"In Gemini Man I'm a D.I.A. [Defense Intelligence Agency] agent who's been hired to keep an eye on Will Smith, but in Birds of Prey I play this assassin who's been trained since childhood. It's all women and genuinely funny and weird. It feels from the '90s, in the best way."

Winstead's description of her character, Huntress, is very interesting since it's a backstory very similar to Batman character Cassandra Cain, who will also be in the movie. Maybe the two will form a connection? Only time will tell but this sounds like a promising origin for a kickass hero like Huntress.

Birds of Prey comes out on February 7, 2020.
