Daniel Craig is Starring in Rian Johnson's Next Movie, Knives Out

Lucasfilm may have hired Rian Johnson to direct his own Star Wars trilogy apart from the Skywalker saga, but Johnson still has some non-Star Wars projects in the works. Just in, his next movie is called Knives Out, and he'll be working with one of the biggest action stars today.

As per Deadline, Daniel Craig has signed on to star in Johnson's next venture which has been described as a, "modern day murder mystery in the classic whodunit style." The film will also be in the same vein of Johnson's previous films like Brick and Looper.

Johnson had this to say about Craig coming onboard for Knives Out:

"I have been a huge fan and always wanted to work with [Craig] and as I worked on the script, trying to get it right, [Producer Ram Bergman] and I were wringing our hands over who could be the detective… Then, serendipitously, we heard Daniel might have a small window, and it worked out. He's an actor of extraordinary range, and we are looking forward to the fun of finding that modern detective, and collaborating with Daniel on creating a new Poirot."

Originally, Craig was set to appear in the next Bond movie which was slated for a release next year, but after the departure of director Danny Boyle, there seems to be extra time on Craig's plate to work on a movie like Knives Out.

Fans who are waiting for updates on Johnson's trilogy shouldn't worry either. After this film, Johnson is said to get right back to work with his own series of Star Wars films. Though there are a lot of active haters of that movie online, the hard facts are that the film was well-received, earning $1.3 billion at the box office.

No release dates have been announced for Knives Out or Johnson's Star Wars trilogy.
