Cinema Merchandise Offers Better Look at X-Men: Dark Phoenix Costumes

X-Men: Dark Phoenix will likely be the final X-Men movie 21st Century Fox releases, with many seeing Disney owning the company soon. Because of this fans have had a mixed reaction to the upcoming film, with some looking forward to it while others wish Marvel Studios would get their hands on the franchise already. Not helping was X-Men: Apocalypse, which was mediocre at best, though Fox has rebounded with Logan and Deadpool 2.

What may or may not help things is a new look at the costumes, which are clearly inspired by Grant Morrison's run of New X-Men. Fans first got a good look at these costumes through set photos and this short video shows us some figures with these outfits.

The new costumes have garnered some controversy from fans since they really wanted to see the outfits shown at the end of Apocalypse, which were much more colorful and interesting. Yes, Grant Morrison's run was great and Frank Quietly gave us some fun character designs but when you consider how all of the X-Men movies have never given fans proper comic book costumes, it's a bit annoying to be teased by more colorful outfits that we will now never see.

X-Men: Dark Phoenix hits theaters on February 14, 2019.
