Chris Pratt and James Gunn Made One Crucial Change to Avengers: Infinity War

Say what you will about Avengers: Infinity War but the film did an admirable job at giving every character some sort of arc. Characters were put into tough situations and forced to make life-altering decisions, most of which will continue to haunt them for some time. One character who tried to make one of these was Star-Lord and it wouldn't have been done if it weren't for actor Chris Pratt and James Gunn.

In a lengthy Buzzfeed article, Infinity War writers Stephen McFeely and Christopher Markus discussed how Pratt and Gunn altered one scene for the better. It was when the Guardians of the Galaxy confronted Thanos in Knowhere and Star-Lord attempts to kill Gamora at her request.

"The more I think about it, the better it is that it got changed. Thanos has that same choice later [to kill Gamora], and he chooses to do it and succeeds. Wanda has that same choice later [with Vision]. A lot of characters have really tough choices to make."

Originally, Star-Lord was going to break his promise but Pratt and Gunn said the character would have followed through. This proved to be effective and heartbreaking since Thanos ended up turning his elemental gun into bubbles. Still, Star-Lord trying to keep his promise was a good move and makes his stupid actions in the climax more understandable.

Knowing that Gunn was this involved with the film is nice since he has been guiding the Guardians since their first film. The director also revealed that he helped out with their dialogue, which really shows whenever Star-Lord or Drax speak.

Avengers: Infinity War is now showing in theaters.
