For MCU fans, the actors who played Marvel Studios' original Avengers will always have a special place in their hearts. Even if their time at Marvel is already done, fans are still curious if they keep in touch in real life, so Chris Evans shared a promising update about their friendship beyond the screen.

Sitting down with GMA, the Captain America star revealed that he and his castmates have a group chat, and he also named the MCU co-star he is most close with. "Probably Scarlett [Johansson]. But all of them, we’re all on a group text chain. We text frequently. But I suppose Scarlett’s the one I’m closest with.” said Evans.

Johansson and Evans met in 2007 after working on the teen comedy-heist film The Perfect Score. The Before We Go actor joined Marvel in 2005 as Johnny Storm/the Human Torch in The Fantastic Four. While the Lucy star made her first appearance as Natasha Romanoff, aka Black Widow, in the 2010 film Iron Man 2.

In a previous interview with the Daily Mail, Johansson talked about his friendship with Evans, which started when she was 17 before they even joined the MCU. Johansson continued, “We could talk for hours, and about all kinds of stuff, in a way like the sort of big sister relationship that Nat has sometimes with Steve – even though Chris is a couple of years older than me – but I think we sort of have that same dynamic.”

The Marriage Story actress also told Variety that she and Evans discussed their Marvel roles with each other before the MCU changed their careers. “I talked to him a little about it because I had already signed on to do 'Iron Man.' Of course, the pressure wasn’t on my shoulders like it was on Chris’,” Johansson recalled.

She added, “I was playing a character that Marvel was invested in, but we didn’t know if the audience was going to be totally behind the Widow at that point. It was like I was dipping my toe in. He was taking the full brunt of the production on his shoulders. It can feel like a gilded cage at times.”

Both actors were last seen together in the MCU after the blockbuster Avengers: Endgame was released in 2019.
