Channing Tatum Might Direct Gambit So Progress Can Finally be Made

Despite talk of Disney canceling all of the X-Men/Fox films that haven't been filmed yet, there is still some chatter about Channing Tatum's long-delayed Gambit film. The movie has lost plenty of directors over the years, with many feeling that movie won't get made or shouldn't be bothered with, given all of the production delays. It seems like Tatum has decided that if the film is going to get off the ground, he should direct Gambit.

Hoo boy.

According to Deadline, Tatum is up to the challenge of directing this X-Men spin-off since other directors keep leaving the project. It's not yet known if Tatum has discussed this with Fox but it looks like this may or may not happen depending on what Disney decides to do with these other licenses.

Previous reports have claimed that no other X-Men films outside of Dark Phoenix will be hitting theaters, with New Mutants possibly going to Hulu. We don't even know if Deadpool 3 and the previously-teased X-Force movie are going to continue being made, though one would think that the former should continue given the amount of money made from both films.

Marvel is currently working on the marketing for Captain Marvel, Avengers: Endgame, and Spider-Man: Far From Home, not to mention the other unnamed MCU films like Black Widow. Here is hoping that Dark Phoenix is better than the marketing makes it out to be.

No release date for Gambit has been revealed.
