CD Projekt Red Agrees to Give 'The Witcher' Creator Better Compensation Pay

Andrzej Sapkowski might not be a household name but he is someone that gamers should respect since he created the original novels of The Witcher before CD Projekt Red made a trilogy of excellent RPGs based on the license. That's why gamers were conflicted when Sapkowski demanded more money after the game's success, claiming that he had no idea the series would do so well.

While it might not be the $16 million Sapkowski wanted, CD Projekt Red has confirmed that they have given the creator more compensation for his work. This was revealed via Polish news outlet Puls Biznesu (translated by WccfTech), as the report claims that both parties have settled their differences amicably, which is always good to hear.

Though Sapkowski did not get the $16 million he wanted, CD Projekt Red did state that the compensation pay the creator will be getting is more than the company is obligated to give. While the amount of pay wasn't disclosed, the fact that both parties have agreed to it must mean that it was satisfactory, otherwise, this would have lasted longer.

It's a good thing The Witcher 3 came out years ago since this probably would have affected its release. Then again, if it weren't for the critical and commercial success of the game this lawsuit wouldn't have happened. Netflix is working on a live-action adaptation of The Witcher, with former(?) Superman actor Henry Cavill playing the role of Geralt.

No update on the Netflix series' release date has been given.
