Henry Cavill's Man of Steel in the DC Extended Universe might be a hero that little boys and girls can look up to, but the actor's upcoming The Witcher series might not be that great for children.
The Witcher producer and showrunner Lauren S. Hisrich just recently took to Twitter to update fans about the upcoming Netflix series after recently watching a cut of the show. Hisrich's verdict? The show isn't good for 5-year-old children.
"Just watched a cut of #Witcher with Ben, and the verdict is in: this show is not for 5-year-olds. Like, really not. #TalesOfAWorkingMom," the showrunner wrote on her post.
This is pretty great news. The Witcher books have always been adult-oriented, and while some fans of the franchise's video games have been concerned about Cavill's look as a young Geralt, the book fans have been praising the series first-look video for its accuracy.
"That sounds perfect the books are awesome so I can't wait," a fan responded.
"Well, it actually needs to be 18+ to keep it all real & whole. I'm sure most of us hope for that!" another Twitter user wrote on Hisrich's tweet.
Of course, we expect The Witcher gamers to show a little excitement over the news too. CD Projekt Red's Witcher video games have always been rather dark and gory. We shouldn't expect anything less from Netflix's upcoming live-action adaptation.
Here's the synopsis for The Witcher:
"Geralt of Rivia, a solitary monster hunter, struggles to find his place in a world where people often prove more wicked than beasts. But when destiny hurtles him toward a powerful sorceress, and a young princess with a dangerous secret, the three must learn to navigate the increasingly volatile Continent together."
The Witcher has yet to receive an official release date but we'll update everyone as soon as we get word.
