The series may have been in trouble during the beginning of the year, but now American Gods 2 is in production, and the cast has decided to greet everyone a happy 4th of July.

Granted though we only have four of the cast members in the video (Omid Abtahi, Yetide Badaki, Bruce Langley, and Mousa Kraish), I guess it stands true to the show's nature of portraying America as a ‘melting pot' of culture. I actually thought that the first season explored some heavy and fantastic themes, and I hope they have more of it in store for the second season.
The show had gone through a rough patch when original showrunners Bryan Fuller and Michael Green left the project due to creative differences. Now Jesse Alexander is the one calling the shots, and American Gods author Neil Gaiman has taken a more active role in production.
Most of the main cast is still intact for the second season, but a notable change in casting is Media, who will no longer be played by Gillian Anderson. Now we have Kahyun Kim playing the role of ‘New Media.' If you ask me, they should have kept Media formless like in the book. Shadow would only communicate with ‘it' whenever a character on a screen started talking to him directly.
No release date has been set for American Gods 2, but it should come out sometime in 2019.
