American Gods 2 may have snagged some production trouble this year, but the show is finally moving forward, and we should expect a release sometime next year. Ricky Whittle, who plays lead Shadow in the series, has released a video from the set, and he teases a nude scene for his character.

To people who've read the books, they could say that the series still has a long way to go. For one, Shadow has yet to meet the Egyptian gods Mr. Jacquel and Mr. Ibis. The two characters have run into Laura already, but they do have some significant interaction with Shadow in the book.
Of course, there's also the possibility that we'll be seeing more new characters made for the show. Vulcan was a character who didn't appear in the books at all, but his existence in the series made for some interesting societal commentary.
The first season of American Gods was met with a lot of praise, but now original showrunners Bryan Fuller and Michael Green are out. Jesse Alexander is now at the helm, and everyone is hoping that he brings something Neil Gaiman will be pleased with, but at the same time not alienate fans of the first season.
American Gods 2 comes out some time in 2019.
