Captain Marvel Star Confirms Absence in the Upcoming Sequel

Carol Danvers is set to make her next appearance in the MCU in the upcoming film The Marvels, the follow-up to 2019's Captain Marvel. Some fans are wondering whether some actors from the first film will also show up in the sequel. Now, it looks like we won't be expecting all of them to return since one of them has confirmed their absence in the upcoming film.

In an interview with ComicBook.com, McKenna Grace, who played the young Carol Danvers in Captain Marvel, confirmed that she won't be appearing in the sequel although she did express her interest in returning to the MCU in the future.

"Oh, my gosh, I wish. That would be so cool. I’ve always wanted to do a Marvel film. I did do Captain Marvel, but I have not come back since. And if I do, I will be honored. Hey, that’d be cool," she said.

Considering that Grace only showed up through flashbacks in the first film where it is essentially an origin story of the character, it is not surprising to see that the actress won't be returning in the sequel and it also looks like we won't be expecting any flashback in the film during the childhood years of Carol Danvers.

The actress is also busy at the moment as she is working on multiple projects such as The Handmaid's Tale and Ghostbusters: Afterlife, which is confirmed to have a sequel that is set to start filming soon. Fortunately, it looks like she is willing to come back to the MCU if ever Marvel gives her a call.

Brie Larson, Iman Vellani, Teyonah Parris, Samuel L. Jackson, Zawe Ashton, Park Seo-joon, Zenobia Shroff, Mohan Kapur, and Saagar Shaikh are confirmed to star in the sequel. Nia DaCosta is directing the film.
