Sony dropped a ton of titles that will be having new installments for their upcoming slate during the CinemaCon 2022 held at Caesars Pala in Las Vegas. Among the films that will be having another shot in cinemas is Ghostbusters which will be a follow-up of Afterlife, the reboot of the franchise that bagged around $200 million globally. While other details are kept in the shadows, the news itself was enough to excite everyone.

The 2021 Ghostbusters film took the reins of ghost-catching to the successors of the modern times with Mckenna Grace, Finn Wolfhard, Carrie Coon, and Paul Rudd featuring the originals Bill Murray, Ernie Hudson, Dan Aykroyd, Annie Potts, and Sigourney Weaver. It follows the events 32 years after Ghostbusters II.

Ghostbusters: Afterlife sets up the future of the franchise with the end-credits scene seeing the return of Ernie Hudson’s Winston Zeddemore who is now a successful businessman and he comes back to New York City where he meets with Annie Potts’ Janine and gives her a tour of his newest property, the very same firehouse that was the headquarters of the original Ghostbusters and declaring that being one will always be within him.

There is no release date announced yet for the sequel of Ghostbusters: Afterlife.
