Bumblebee Movie Debuts New Image Featuring Hailee Steinfeld

It will still be a long wait for the Transformers spin-off film Bumblebee. However, Paramount Pictures has just released a new still from the movie to keep fans on their toes.

The Transformers spin-off flick will focus on what happened to the tiny yellow Autobot prior to the events in the 2007 movie. Taking places in the 1980s, Bumblebee is discovered by a teenage girl played by Hailee Steinfeld. The new movie still from the film (via Entertainment Weekly) captures the moment that the Autobot finds a new friend.

There is little doubt that the image is taken from an important scene in the film. Although Steinfeld's character initially takes Bumblebee home as a vehicle, she later realizes that the car is completely out of this world.

The synopsis for Bumblebee reads as follows:

"On the run in the year 1987, Bumblebee finds refuge in a junkyard in a small Californian beach town. Charlie (Hailee Steinfeld), on the cusp of turning 18 and trying to find her place in the world, discovers Bumblebee, battle-scarred and broken. When Charlie revives him, she quickly learns this is no ordinary, yellow VW bug."

The film also stars John Cena as an agent tasked with finding the Autobot. Black Panther actress Angela Bassett provides the voice of Shatter while Justin Theroux of The Leftovers lends his voice to Dropkick. The iconic Peter Cullen is also expected to return as the voice of Optimus Prime.

Bumblebee is scheduled for release on December 21.
