Bumblebee Might Make Less Money Than Previous Transformers Movies

The upcoming Bumblebee movie has a lot of old-school Transformers fans excited since it seems to take more from the 80's cartoon rather than the Michael Bay films. Bee himself even has a new design, which looks way better than any of the previous Bumblebees that were in other movies. Unfortunately, despite the fact that it actually looks like a movie, some analysts are saying that it will not make as much money as previous installments.

According to Box Office Pros, Bumblebee is expected to make US$25 Million in the box office. That might not sound too bad if it were any other movie but since this is a film linked to a huge franchise that has made billions, it's easy to see why Paramount might be disappointed with this. Transformers: The Last Knight made US$44 Million on its opening night so it will be kind of sad if Bumblebee can't break that record.

Not helping is the stiff competition Paramount will be facing in that month. Aquaman, the latest superhero movie from DC and Warner Bros., is coming out in December as well and a lot of fans are hyped up for that. Plus, superhero movies are just in these days. Disney also has a big movie in Mary Poppins Returns, which might get a lot of nostalgia-driven fans to check it out.

While predictions like this aren't always right, fans of the franchise may want to book their tickets in advance if they want more good Transformers movies. For the sake of quality franchise films, let's hope Bumblebee breaks even, at the least.

Bumblebee comes out this December.
