BTS Suga collaborated with the late Japanese musician, Ryuichi Sakamoto, in one of the songs included in his first solo album as Agust D, titled D-Day.

Amid BTS’ break on group projects, Suga is set to make a historic record as a soloist once he begins his first solo world tour. He will promote his next solo album, D-Day, as Agust D for the first time.

More details about the album have been released, including Ryuichi Sakamoto’s participation in the completion of the music project.

Ryuichi Sakamoto Worked on One of Suga’s Songs

On Monday, Suga released the tracklist of his solo album, D-Day, on his Instagram account. The songs include D-Day, Haegeum, Huh? Amygdala, SDL, People Pt. 2 (feat. IU), Geugya, Interlude: Dawn, Snooze, and Life Goes On.

BIGHIT Music also released the details on its official Twitter page.

One of the tracks, Snooze, features Ryuichi Sakamoto and The Rose vocalist, Woosung. The project is considered a special collaboration as Suga recorded it before the Japanese musician passed away.

Ryuichi Sakamoto’s Twitter page and record label confirmed his death, saying he passed away on March 28 after his long battle with cancer. He started enduring the dreaded disease when he was first diagnosed with oropharyngeal cancer in 2014.

He underwent a long treatment that kept him away from the music industry. Although he returned after a year, he told his fans his cancer might return due to his weakened immune system.

Ryuichi Sakamoto was diagnosed with rectal cancer after going into remission in 2021.

Following the announcement regarding Ryuichi Sakamoto’s death, Suga joined the fans who paid tribute to the legendary musician.

He shared a photo on his Instagram Story, writing, “Teacher, I hope the faraway journey is peaceful. R.I.P SAKAMOTO RYUICHI.”

Suga and Ryuichi Sakamoto met in September during the K-pop idol’s visit to Tokyo. The late musician also mentioned the BTS member in his essay How Many Full Moons Will I See in the Future for the Japanese literary magazine Shincho, in which he revealed that he had a private meeting with him.
