Boba Fett Spinoff Might Not Begin Production Till 2020

It looks like Star Wars fans are going to have to wait a while for that rumored Boba Fett spinoff movie from Lucasfilm.

Sure the studio might have already pinned down the Academy Award-nominated screenwriter and director James Mangold to helm the project, but according to Omega Underground, Boba Fett won't begin production till 2020.

Though fans were probably hoping to see Boba Fett make his way to the big screen a bit sooner, the publication believes the Star Wars spinoff won't begin principal photography till 2020 because of Mangold's upcoming film, Ford vs Ferrari. The film which stars Christian Bale and Matt Damon is to begin production this summer. Given its late production, the site believes that Ford vs. Ferrari might premiere sometime during the fall next year, meaning that Mangold won't have time to work on the Boba Fett movie till after Ford vs. Ferrari ends.

That might seem like a while to fans, but Lucasfilm's already got a lot lined up for the Star Wars franchise. Not only does the studio have an entirely new trilogy with Star Wars: The Last Jedi director Rian Johnson, it also has an Obi-Wan Kenobi spinoff and a series with Game of Thrones showrunners David Benioff and D.B. Weiss.

Lucasfilm's latest project, Solo: A Star Wars Story is currently screening in cinemas.
