Blizzard Has 'No Idea' When They Will Release Overwatch 2

While we all have our gripes with Blizzard, there's no doubt that the news of Overwatch 2 getting announced is fairly exciting. Though not a huge graphical upgrade from Overwatch, revealing the much-requested story mode and individual character progress has a lot of fans excited, along with all the new multiplayer modes. Those who bought the recently-released Switch versions of Overwatch who feel like kicking themselves need not worry since there is no planned release date yet.

During an interview with VG24/7, Overwatch Director and Blizzard Vice President Jeff Kaplan stated that they don't have a proper release date for the sequel. In fact, Kaplan even said that there is a good chance more Overwatch 2 details will be revealed in the next BlizzCon, so if anyone was hoping it would come out in 2020 are going to be disappointed.

I don't have a date, It's not this year, that's a pretty safe answer...I have a feeling we'll be talking about Overwatch 2 again next year at BlizzCon. If that helps.

At the least, fans should be happy with the fact that Blizzard wants to make Overwatch 2 really good. Since they are keeping the game as an online-only game with a ton of multiplayer focus, there's going to be a lot of testing to make sure it plays well, especially since it's coming to the PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC.
