Black Widow Star Florence Pugh Was Worried About Her Russian Accent

Black Widow was supposed to come out earlier this month and coincide with Free Comic Book Day, giving fans the geekiest weekend ever, but then COVID-19 happened. Now that the film has been delayed to November, we're all hoping that movie theaters will be opened by then so that we can enjoy some sort of normalcy. I doubt we'll be getting any new trailers from Marvel Studios but most people did enjoy the few we got.

Florence Pugh, who will be playing Yelena Belova in the movie, was actually nervous about the first few public trailers since she had to put on a Russian accent. The actress is British and was worried that fans wouldn't like her accent, maybe think it's too stereotypical for their liking. For the most part, people have been receptive to what they've seen so it looks like Pugh is in the clear.

"I was scared because my Russian accent was going to be out there and I didn't know what it sounded like. I'm also playing a character who no one's seen before but they've read about her. I didn't know whether people were going to hate me."

While Pugh was right to express her fears to Elle magazine - let's face it, comic book fans are just as bad as Star Wars fans, even worse sometimes - it's good to know that most people have left her alone. If she does well, we could see Pugh in more Marvel movies since (spoilers?) her sister in the movie dies during Avengers: Endgame.

Black Widow will be hitting theaters on November 6. Let's hope things are more normal by then.
