Bumblebee Star Hailee Steinfeld Responds to Reports About Joining Hawkeye Series

Last year, word came out that Disney was planning offering Bumblebee actress Hailee Steinfeld a lead role in Marvel's upcoming Hawkeye series for Disney+.

Now, eight months after the report, Steinfeld tries to remain coy about her Marvel casting. Speaking in an interview with Sirius XM to talk about her new role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, the actress refuses to confirm whether or not she's been cast in Marvel's Hawkeye series.

When asked whether reports about Steinfeld joining the MCU were true, the actress pretended that she couldn't really hear the interviewer during the video-conferencing interview.

"What?" the actress asked, playing coy, "the connection just got a little funky."

Steinfeld admitted that she was joking about problems with her internet connection.

"I feel I could have run with that a little bit longer, but then y'all would've thought the connection was bad, since that happens on these calls, so maybe I shouldn't play into that," the Bumble Bee star told the interviewer.

Instead of addressing the question, the actress decided to move towards her music, saying that she was focused on developing music in the middle of the COVID-19 pandemic.

"I'm glad we have this time that we were actually, legitimately talking about how much time we've got, to focus on that, so that is what's occupying my brain at the moment," Steinfeld concluded.

It seems like the actress doesn't want to get ahead of herself by confirming her involvement in Hawkeye. While Steinfeld refuses to reveal her role in the series, word on the street has it that the 23-year-old Oscar nominee is set to play Kate Bishop in the series. Perhaps Steinfeld is waiting for Marvel to make the announcement itself. Let's wait and see.

Marvel's next release, Black Widow, is set to premiere on November 6, 2020.
