Another young, black girl is set to shake the world with her genius as Riri Williams make her debut in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever where she will be meeting Shuri, the intellectually gifted princess of Wakanda, and they will be teaming up in the sequel.

In an interview with Marvel.com, producer Nate Moore reveals that that Dominique Thorne is their only choice to play the role, Moore said that Thorne “was the first and only call” and that “called her out of the blue, she hadn’t heard from us in two-plus years.”

Moore added, “We really liked her, and we thought she was really smart. She has a great presence, and she is funny. She has a lot of attitudes. We remembered that audition, and it was very easy for the whole team to kind of embrace that as an idea.”

Moore is thankful that Thorne accepted the role, "She's such a talented actress. She can play both drama and comedy. She's incredibly prepared. She's game for all the physical stuff that these movies tend to throw at performers that are, at times, really surprising.”

Moore also explains why Riri is perfect for the sequel, “Riri Williams is such a compelling character in publishing who also has a shared history with grief and trauma. There was sort of this karmic kinship between the two characters that became immediately apparent and made our jobs really easy."

Imagine having two, equally beautiful, talented, and intelligent young women coming together with Shuri and Riri Williams inside one film on Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, just how powerful is that, right?

Dominique Thorne is best known for her roles as Sheila Hunt in If Beale Street Could Talk, and as Judy Harmon in Judas and the Black Messiah.

In the comics, Riri Williams first appeared on Invincible Iron Man Vol. 3 #7, who is a skilled inventor and engineer, regardless of her age and her limited resources. She managed to make her very own version of the suit of Iron Man.

The 19-year-old student, Riri, will be taking part in the sequel before her very own series. Ironheart is slated to be the 11th MCU series to arrive on Disney Plus coming in late 2023 with six episodes lined-up. There is no definite release date yet for the show but it is currently under production.
