Birds Of Prey Screenwriter Margot Robbie For Harley Quinn Portrayal

There is little doubt that Harley Quinn was the best thing about Suicide Squad. Not surprisingly, the Birds of Prey screenwriter couldn't help but gush about Margot Robbie and her awesome portrayal of the comic book heroine.

Christina Hodson recently spoke to ComicBook.com about writing the script for Birds of Prey (And The Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn). The Bumblebee screenwriter admitted that she is a huge fan of Joker's significant other and that she was excited to explore Harley's story further.

"I've always loved Harley. I think she is so complicated and nuanced and interesting and is so full of completely opposing qualities. She is incredibly intelligent; she is a psychiatrist, but she's also incredibly silly and immature, and that balance between kind of sanity and madness, fun and frivolity and real intelligence, heart, was such a fun thing to be able to play with. Harley takes that to the next level: she's a little bit of everything, and to be able to write a character like that is amazing."

Working on Harley's storyline isn't the only thing that Hodson is happy to do. She also revealed that she enjoyed being able to work with Robbie.

"I also love what Margot brought to that character. And working with Margot on the character and on the story for the last three years has been a dream come true really," Hodson shared.

Hodson certainly has her hands full. In addition to Birds of Prey, she is also working on the script for the highly anticipated Batgirl film.

Birds of Prey (And The Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn) will begin production early next year. The film is scheduled for release on February 7, 2020.
