Birds of Prey Movie Reportedly Casts Batman Villain Victor Zsasz

Birds of Prey (and the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn) has got a lot of DC fans talking, what with the ridiculous title and the recent castings of the characters. Getting Ewan McGregor as Black Mask was an interesting move since he's a fairly well-known Batman villain thanks to the Batman: Arkham games and now we have another minor Gotham baddie coming to the film; Victor Zsasz.

According to Deadline, Sharp Objects actor Chris Messina will be playing the deranged killer in the movie. This isn't the first time we've seen Zsasz in live-action since Tim Booth played as him in Batman Begins, albeit in a minor role, and Anthony Carrigan portrayed him in Fox's Gotham.

This version of the character will reportedly work alongside Black Mask, which should make for an interesting dynamic. The two haven't really worked together in any capacity in the comics since Black Mask is a more refined gangster whereas Zsasz just likes to kill. It will be interesting to see what their compromise will be.

Zsasz is a serial killer who always cuts himself after killing somebody. He feels like killing has to be done so that these people can be free from life or something deranged like that. Either way, he's dangerous and the Birds of Prey are going to have to be careful when approaching him. At least it'll be three-on-one when it happens.

Birds of Prey (and the Fabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn) comes out on February 7, 2019.
