Birds of Prey: Harley Quinn just Erased Oracle from DCEU

People are loving Birds of Prey (And The Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn) as it brought in several powerful female DC characters to work together. However, the new Warner Bros. film also managed to erase an important heroine who was responsible for the creation of Birds of Prey. But what could this truly mean for Oracle's future in the DC Extended Universe?

In Birds of Prey, Harley Quinn met Black Canary, Renee Montoya, and Huntress and convinced them that they should all work together to go up against Roman Sionis. In the end, Harley decided to team up with Cassandra Cain while Black Canary, Renee, and Huntress formed the Birds of Prey.

Wait, that's not how it happens in the comic books. In the comics, the Birds of Prey started out as a partnership between Black Canary and Barbara Gordon, who has taken on the name Oracle. But before becoming Oracle, Barbara was best known as Batgirl.

So what does this mean for Barbara in the DCEU especially since Batgirl is still expected to get her own film? Although it looks like Oracle's role in creating the Birds of Prey has been changed, we're still looking forward to seeing Barbara in action. Let's hope we get some updates on the Batgirl movie really soon.

Birds of Prey (And The Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn) stars Margot Robbie, Ewan McGregor, Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Rosie Perez, Ella Jay Basco, and Jurnee Smollett-Bell. The film is currently screening in theaters worldwide.
