Birds of Prey: Black Mask Easter Egg Spotted in Justice League

It seems like people only learned about Black Mask joining the DC Extended Universe after Ewan McGregor was cast in Birds of Prey (And The Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn) back in 2018. However, it looks like Warner Bros. has been teasing Roman Sionis' arrival at least a year before that. A Black Mask Easter Egg has been spotted in Justice League.

A fan had taken a screencap from the 2017 film and shared it on Reddit. In the image, the name JANUS is clearly shown on a building in Gotham City. Check it out below.

Does that ring any bells? In Birds of Prey, it is confirmed that Roman is part of a wealthy family that owns a huge cosmetics company known as Janus. However, Roman is determined to make a name for himself and decided to become a crime boss.

It's a subtle tease at Black Mask that was easily missed but we're glad someone made the connection between the name in Justice League and Roman's family in Birds of Prey. This could confirm that the DCEU continues to be connected in a bigger way than we all thought.

Birds of Prey (And The Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn) stars Ewan McGregor as Black Mask, Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn, Mary Elizabeth Winstead as Huntress, Jurnee Smollett-Bell as Black Canary, Rosie Perez as Renee Montoya, Ella Jay Basco as Cassandra Cain, and Chris Messina as Victor Szazs. The film is currently screening in theaters worldwide.
