Billy Dee Williams’ Convention Cancellation Hints At A Lando Appearance In Star Wars: Episode IX

There are a lot of fans hoping that Billy Dee William's Lando Calrissian might make his way to Star Wars: Episode IX. Sure Lando might not have been one of the lead stars in the original Star Wars trilogy, but he's one of the franchise's most beloved characters.

Now that Luke Skywalker and Han Solo have both kicked the bucket in Lucasfilm's sequel trilogy, fans have started looking out for Lando's return. Lucasfilm might not have made any confirmation just yet, but some have started speculating that Williams could actually be working on Episode IX.

Posting on Facebook, the organizers of the Saskatchewan Entertainment Expo announced to fans that Williams was canceling his appearance at the event because of a film schedule conflict.

We've got some sad news for you all today. Due to a film schedule conflict, Billy Dee Williams will not be able to appear at [the Saskatchewan Entertainment Expo] this year," the convention's marketing team wrote on the post. "He sends his regrets, and hopes to make it up to his Saskatchewan fans in 2019."

Though Williams could have canceled the appearance for a number of reasons, the convention wrote that he was pulling out of the event because of a "film schedule conflict" – a confirmation that the Star Wars star was working on a new project. Though it could very well be any other film, Episode IX is going to begin production soon, and filming is expected to wrap around December this year. What other film would Williams be working on if not Episode IX? Well, of course, there could be others. So, let's just wait and see.

Star Wars: Episode IX hits cinemas December 20, 2019.
