Ben Affleck's The Batman Might Begin Production In Summer 2019

Warner Bros. is certainly on a roll. The studio has just cast two important roles in the upcoming Birds of Prey film. In addition to that, it looks like The Batman will be ready to begin production next year.

The Wrap's Umberto Gonzalez shared the good news on his official Twitter account. The post confirmed that the first draft of Matt Reeves' script is undergoing some revisions. Nevertheless, The Batman will hopefully get a production start by Summer 2019. Take a look at his tweet below.

But what are the chances that Ben Affleck will return as the Caped Crusader? It was recently reported that the Justice League star was spotted at the Warner Bros. Studios with a copy of the script. Although it is possible that Affleck is simply backing Reeves as he pitched the screenplay, fans are hoping this means he will reprise his role in The Batman.

Affleck's return as Bruce Wayne has been unclear after the Academy Award winner entered rehab in August. However, if the film will start production in mid-2019, there is a huge possibility that Affleck will be available by then.

Although there is hope that Affleck will be back in The Batman, fans probably shouldn't expect to see the Dark Knight making an appearance in other DC Extended Universe flicks. There have been reports that Batman will not be a part of Birds of Prey although the film will focus on characters connected to the Caped Crusader.

Birds of Prey recently cast Mary Elizabeth Winstead (10 Cloverfield Lane) as Huntress and Jurnee Smollett-Bell (Friday Night Lights) as Black Canary. They will join Suicide Squad actress Margot Robbie, who will reprise her role as Harley Quinn.

The Batman has not been given an official production start date or a release date. Hopefully, we'll get more updates in the near future.
