Ben Affleck's Batman Film was a Mix Between 'The Town' and 'The Raid'

We know that Ben Affleck was originally set to direct the solo Batman movie, but he has since left the project and Matt Reeves has been put at the helm. What's interesting is, we get some more descriptions of what Affleck was planning for his film, and why WB decided to scrap it.

According to Film Gob, a source had said that Affleck's take on The Batman was a lot more similar to the tone of Batman v Superman, meaning it was a lot more dark and serious. It was said that the film would be a mix between The Town and The Raid. I can already imagine the Town influence when it comes to some kind of Gotham heist, but it would be cool to see Batman stuck in Arkham Asylum just taking on waves of rogues not unlike The Raid.

Just imagine this scene, but it's with Affleck's Batman:

Heck, why don't I just give you the fight from Batman v Superman?:

While WB wanted to keep Affleck onboard initially, the stress of the job seemed to be getting to him and they didn't want Affleck to damage himself and make another ‘Heath situation.' For now, it seems Affleck is done, but hopefully, there's room in the future for a return, depending on how Affleck's well-being in the future.

While Affleck won't come back, there's a lot of positivity for Robert Pattinson as the new Batman. Fingers crossed this happens in its own timeline like Joker does because I would love to see Affleck come back and reunite with his Justice League comrades like Gal Gadot and Ezra Miller.

Catch The Batman when it hits theaters June 25, 2021.
