Batwoman Set Accident Leaves Production Assistant Paralyzed

It seems like Batwoman just can't catch a break. It has been revealed that a production assistant suffered a horrific accident on the CW show's Vancouver set and has now been left paralyzed from the incident.

Vancouver Sun reports that comedian Amanda Smith was working on the set of the DC series when a boom lift bucket was accidentally lowered onto her head. Unfortunately, Smith was trapped underneath and ended up with serious spinal injuries. Sadly, she is unable to feel anything from the waist down even after surgery. The accident happened while Batwoman was being filmed beneath Vancouver's Georgia Viaduct on Wednesday, March 11.

Since the incident, Smith's friend Tyler Mazzucco has started a GoFundMe that is hoping to raise funds for Smith's expenses in the foreseeable future. The page also shared more details about Smith's injuries.

"She has a burst T-12, and a T-11 ASIA A. She underwent a T-11-T-12 Laminectomy, and is fused from T-10-L2. She is currently paralyzed and cannot feel anything from the waist down, however we are holding out hope that with time and rehabilitation, she might regain sensations in her legs," the page reads. Smith isn't the first woman to be injured on the set of Batwoman. It was previously reported that Ruby Rose also underwent neck surgery after performing a stunt that went wrong.

Production on Batwoman is currently suspended due to the Coronavirus outbreak (COVID-19). Stay tuned for more updates on this story.
